What is now the traditional mid-Winter Special Lunch Time Gathering took place
at RBL Lancing on 26th Jan 2006. The weather was kind for us and I was very
pleased to welcome 29 members and guests. Our member Gordon Thew was the speaker
on the evening of 27th April, his subject being Family History. Attendance
totalled 27 and his talk evoked considerable interest. The provisional date for
the next evening at Lancing is Thursday, 27th July, again with a speaker.
A guided tour of St Dunstan’s had been arranged for Thursday 13th July,
commencing at 10.30 am and followed by lunch. So far 21 confirmatory booking
forms have been returned. The upper limit would be 25 and so it may be necessary
to arrange another visit for a later date if the bookings exceed this. We were
very sorry to see the name of Ken Bowles in the January 2006 Memorial Roll and
our condolences have been extended to Mrs Valerie Bowles.
Eric and Rosemary Hensby celebrated their Emerald Wedding Anniversary on 31st
March, 2006 (55 years). Our heartiest congratulations were sent and we were
delighted to repeat these when they attended our April meeting. I hope to meet
Branch members and many others at the Garden Party/Summer Re-Union at Worthy
Down on 4th June and at our Branch events in July.
