York Branch News (Chairman: Maj (Retd) Charles Plaistow) A Summer Barbecue, with a Caribbean flavour was held on Fri 23 Jul 04 on the lawns outside the Imphal Barracks WO’s & Sgt’s Mess. The sunshine helped to add to the atmosphere, as everyone mingled and chatted to the lively strains of calypso and steel band music. The BBQ food was good with Cajun and Creole flavours to set the taste buds alight. In all it was a good evening and looks to become an annual event. A big thank you to all those who donated the raffle prizes, sold tickets and help to clear away. The Annual Branch Dinner was held on Fri 19 Nov 04 at the WO’s & Sgt’s Mess, Imphal Barracks. Despite the change in date we had 55 sit down to dinner. It was wonderful to see some new faces at the dinner this year, with representation from the RAPC Old Boys for the first time. Around the tables bedecked in Primrose and Blue and sparkling silver we held a few moments silence for absent and departed friends before starting the dinner. The dinner got off to a good start. Soon the hum of conversation indicated that lots of old friends were catching up on recent news and old memories were being relived yet again. The Mess did us proud as ever and the consensus was that it had been a jolly good dinner. As ever, the after dinner session at the bar was a success and we had a hearty throng joining in last orders! Thank you to all turn out to support our events, and we hope to see some more new faces in 2005.
