'Stand By Your Beds'

This book is written by an RAPC NSM John Holt

Most young men in the late 1940s and 1950s had to leave their families and jobs at the age of 17 or 18 to undertake two years National Service, being thrust together into a strange environment with people from many varied backgrounds.

As the author writes in his Preface to the book:
'I am writing a book about my National Service experiences, because I think that for many people of my age, National Service was an unique experience.
